Terms of service
Last updated October 23, 2026
These are the terms for using FirstFiling Leads. I've tried to keep them short and plain. By signing up or paying, you agree to them.
Who I am
FirstFiling Leads is run by Hyrum, a sole proprietor in Idaho ([email protected]). "I" and "me" means me. "You" means you and the business you sign up for.
What you get
A list of new business filings (LLCs and corporations) for the states and counties on your plan, delivered by email, CSV and, if you want it, a Google Sheet. Paid Idaho lists go out each weekday the state publishes new filings. Utah lists start within one business day of signup, then go out weekly. The free sample and the 7-day trial are described on the pricing page.
Where the data comes from
Everything in the lists comes from public Secretary of State (and Utah Division of Corporations) records. I clean it up, sort it by county, and add my own tags and flags (industry tag, likely-local flag, registered-agent filter). Those tags are best guesses made by software. The data is provided as is. States make mistakes, filings get corrected, and my filters will sometimes be wrong. I don't promise the list is complete or error-free.
Billing
- Plans are month to month (or yearly, if you choose) and renew automatically until you cancel.
- Cancel any time. See "Cancellation & refunds" below.
- Founding price: the first 50 paying customers keep the price they signed up at for as long as their subscription stays active. If you cancel and come back later, the price at that time applies.
- Payments are processed by Stripe.
Cancellation & refunds
- No contracts. You can cancel anytime. Just email me at [email protected].
- When you cancel, you keep access through the end of the month or year you've already paid for. Then it stops, and you won't be charged again.
- No refunds for partial months or years, including yearly plans. You can try it free first with the weekly sample or the 7-day trial, so you can see the data before you pay.
- The only refunds: if you're charged twice by mistake (I'll refund the duplicate charge), or if I don't deliver the feed you paid for (I'll refund the period I didn't deliver).
How you can use the data
- Use it to find and contact new businesses for your own business.
- You have to follow the laws that apply when you contact these businesses, including CAN-SPAM for email, the TCPA and Do Not Call rules for calls and texts, and state law.
- Don't use it to harass anyone.
- Not a consumer report. Don't use the data to decide anyone's eligibility for credit, insurance, employment, housing or any other purpose covered by the Fair Credit Reporting Act.
- Don't resell or republish the lists or the raw feed, unless we've agreed otherwise in writing (for example, a bulk or API arrangement).
- One subscription is for one business, unless we've agreed otherwise in writing.
- If the data is misused, I can end your access.
The data comes from public state records. It's provided as is and may contain errors. You decide how to use it, and I'm not liable for how you use it.
Exclusive State plan
On Exclusive State, I won't sell that state's list to another business in the same line of work you picked (insurance, accounting, merchant services, web/marketing, or banking) while you stay subscribed. It doesn't cover other states or other lines of work.
If something goes wrong
If a list is late or broken, email me and I'll fix it. If I can't deliver it, I'll refund that period (see Cancellation & refunds). Beyond that, to the extent the law allows, my total responsibility for any claim is limited to what you paid me in the 3 months before it, and I'm not responsible for lost profits or indirect damages, or for how you use the data.
Ending things
You can cancel any time. I can end service if the lists are being misused (for example, resold or used for an FCRA purpose), and if I ever stop service for any other reason, I'll refund the prepaid time I didn't deliver.
Changes
If I change these terms in a way that matters, I'll update the date above and email paying customers at least 14 days before it takes effect.
Law
These terms are governed by Idaho law.
